Trailer Registration

I am registering ...

  • Submit completed CS-L (MVR) 14 form (Application for Registration of Trailer).
    Ensure the reverse side of the form is countersigned by the selling dealer.
  • Submit Hawaii Vehicle Inspection Certificate if the trailer weight is 10,000 lbs. or
    less.
  • Required fees will be determined by Motor Vehicle or Satellite City Hall staff
  • Submit completed CS-L (MVR) 14 form (Application for Registration of Trailer).
  • Submit Manufacturers Certificate of Origin (MCO) for the Trailer. The assignment
    section on the reverse side of the MCO must be endorsed to you. A copy will be
    kept and the original MCO will be returned to you.
  • Submit Hawaii Vehicle Inspection Certificate if the trailer weight is 10,000 lbs. or
    less.
  • Required fees will be determined by Motor Vehicle or Satellite City Hall staff.
  •  Submit completed CS-L (MVR) 14 form (Application for Registration of Trailer).
  • Submit the other jurisdiction’s last issued certificate of registration/title for the trailer.
  • Submit Hawaii Vehicle Inspection Certificate if the trailer weight is 10,000 lbs. or
    less.
  • Submit weight slip from a certified State weighmaster.
  • Submit Bill of Lading indicating the date of arrival of the trailer in Hawaii.
  • Trailer Vehicle Identification Number must be inspected by the Motor Vehicle
    Control Section. Inspections conducted by appointment only. Call 808-768-2542.

  • Submit the other jurisdiction’s last issued certificate of registration/title for the
    trailer. If the certificate of title does not indicate a transfer of ownership from the
    recorded owner to the applicant, a bill of sale must be presented.
  • Submit Hawaii Vehicle Inspection Certificate if the trailer weight is 10,000 lbs. or
    less.
  • Submit weight slip from a certified State weighmaster.

For trailers with a GVW (gross vehicle weight) more than 10,000 lbs., a State
Department of Transportation Inspection Certificate must be submitted.
