Bicycle Registration
The City and County of Honolulu has almost 3.5 miles of protected bike lanes for residents to make their way around the island’s urban core on a bike. Biking enthusiasts on Oahu have benefitted from protected bike lanes designed to ensure that cyclists can enjoy safer rides on their commute or biking excursions. With the city planning to expand biking opportunities by adding a bike lane on more roads, here’s what you need to know about registering your bike with the City and County of Honolulu.
Bicycle Registration Fees
- $30 for an electric bicycle (E-Bike) – when registering low speed electric bicycles, you must indicate the watts on the application.
[Title 15 USC Section 2085, Definition: For the purpose of this section, the term “low-speed electric bicycle” means a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts (1 h.p.), whose maximum speed on a paved level surface, when powered solely by such a motor vehicle ridden by an operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than 20 mph.]
- $15 for a pedal bicycle

Proof of Ownership:
- Receipt of sale
- Bill of sale
Affidavit of Ownership
Registration Form (available at any Satellite City Hall) requires information on the bicycle: make, year, color, serial number, body type, number of speeds, and wheel size.
Bicycles can be registered or transferred by AlohaQ appointment at window 17 of the Kapalama Driver Licensing Center, at any Satellite City Hall, or by mail:
