Purpose: To Address, Discuss and Resolve issues that affect the Parks and Recreation Affairs of Waimānalo and its residents and then make recommendations to the Full Waimānalo Neighborhood Board for Approval.
This is a five (5) member committee represented by Brenda Wong, Committee Chair, Lourdes Millan Committee
co-chair & Secretary, Moani Nanod-Sitch, Hulali Mohi, and Pilialoha Callahan
Rules of Speaking: Anyone wishing to speak is asked to raise his/her hand, and when recognized by the Chair, to address comments to the Chair. Speakers and those giving reports are encouraged to keep their comments to less than three (3) minutes. Please silence all electronic devices.
Note: The Committee may not take action on any agenda item. Recommendations shall be reported back to the Waimānalo Neighborhood Board No. 32 at its next regular monthly meeting for action.

b) Review of the Finalized Priority Lists for Laura Thielen’s department of things we want fixed in the Waimanalo Parks and Rec and ongoing project list

c) Any information about DLNR permits: how are they given? What area does it cover? Boundary for DLNR and City and County;

d) Any updates about the Boulders… where do they need to be placed?

e) Any more info on Bellows closing entrance for vehicles on their side that drive onto the beach?

f) Resolution for Govt Accountability to Protect our Beaches and Parks
Including Parks and Beaches rules and enforcement

g) Items Deferred from the Regular Waimanalo Neighborhood Board Meeting

h) Are there things that we would like to ask of the military’s usage of our parks and rec in Waimanalo in view of their lease expiring on our beaches?

i) Do we want to make requests related to Rim Pac exercises in Waimanalo?

j) Any follow up information about lauching canoes off Waimanlo?

k) Google doc to track police reports on vehicles off roading at Hunananiho and other Waimanalo parks?

6) On-going Concerns about our Waimanalo Parks

a) Updates on improvements:
i. Boudlers places in the fenced area of Hunananiho left parking lot and also at the entrance of the park where people drove into the bushes and lived there
b) Discussion about ocean safety situation regarding lifeguard’s comments on social media
i. Follow up about this, was there any disiplinary actions taken
c) Any other concerns?
i. Signs, off roading, fence repairs, boulders
ii. Illegal Commercial activity
iii. Dumping
iv. Sand erosion
v. Vehicles on beaches and grass
vi. Police citing those who are off roading on the sand or grass

7) Specific Concerns about our Waimanalo Parks

a) Covering from the sun for our two Waimanalo Playgrounds
b) Hunananiho Gate
c) Kaiona Boat ramp
d) Waiamnalo district Park –
i. staffing stortage
ii. Mowing the fields/Community Partnership with Department of Parks and Recreation
