On February 5, 2025, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, alongside Executive Director of the Office of Housing Kevin Auger and City Council Housing Chair Matt Weyer, unveiled the 2025-2028 Strategic Housing Plan—a bold initiative aimed at tackling Honolulu’s housing challenges and expanding opportunities for residents of all income levels. During a press conference at Honolulu Hale, Mayor Blangiardi emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring that working families, essential workers, and future generations can continue to call Honolulu home.
“We owe it to our teachers, police officers, flight attendants, and other working professionals to ensure that Honolulu remains a place where they can live, work, and thrive,” said Mayor Blangiardi. “This plan is about action. We are ready to build the housing our residents need.”
