I. CALL TO ORDER – [0:00:07]: Committee Chair Melendrez called the meeting to order at 6:28 p.m.
Committee Members Present: Mahealani Bernal, Steven Melendrez, Claire Tamamoto, and Larry Veray.
Committee Members Absent: Richard Oshiro.
Guests: Lloyd Yonenaka and Dylan Buck (Neighborhood Commission Office – NCO). There were 6 total attendees. Name not included if not legible on sign-in sheet, not signed in and/or not participated in discussion.

III. APPROVAL OF COMMITTEE MINUTES – [0:01:23]
Thursday, January 23, 2025 Written Summary for Video Record – [0:01:24]: [0:02:28] –Melendrez MOVED and Veray SECONDED to approve the Written Summary for Video Record as written. Hearing no objections or abstentions, the motion was ADOPTED; 4-0-0 (Aye: Bernal, Melendrez, Tamamoto, Veray; Nay: None; Abstain: None) – [0:02:35]
IV. BOARD BUSINESS – [0:02:53]
Neighborhood Commission Survey – [0:02:53]: Committee Chair Melendrez announced that the purpose of this meeting is for the Committee to conduct a final review of the testimony received and to make recommendations to the draft survey for it to be presented to the full Neighborhood Commission. Committee Chair Melendrez opened the floor for each committee member to present their findings from their assigned portions of the submitted testimony from Neighborhood Board members.

Questions, comments and concerns followed – [0:03:25]. Following discussion, the sentiment of the Committee was to prepare a written report of the following areas to be considered by the full Neighborhood Commission in the final survey: (1) increased communication between the Neighborhood Commission Office, the Neighborhood Commission and the Neighborhood Boards regarding new policies; (2) reevaluation of meeting duration and locations; (3) addressing complaints and/or suggestions regarding the draft meeting minutes; (4) consideration of creating a new Board Member Guidebook outlining the roles and duties of various entities within the Neighborhood Board System; and (5) increased training for Board Members.

Next Meeting – [1:08:15]: The next regular meeting of the Neighborhood Commission is scheduled for Monday, February 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at Kapālama Hale and virtually via Webex.
