Kawailoa Transfer Station to adjust green waste drop-off hours

HONOLULU The City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services (ENV) announces starting April 6, 2025, new green waste drop-off hours will take effect at the Kawailoa Transfer Station Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Green waste will not be accepted at the Kawailoa Transfer Station from Monday through Saturday. Until April 6, the Kawailoa Transfer Station will continue to accept green waste Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to take their green waste directly to Hawaiian Earth Recycling (HER), the city’s contracted green waste recycler, for free disposal. HER is conveniently located at 65-1101 Wilikina Drive, between Waialua and Wahiawa, in the North Shore area. Green waste is accepted at HER during the following hours:

  • Monday – Saturday:  7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday:  7:00 a.m. to noon

Residents are reminded drop-offs at HER and the transfer station are limited to two (2) loads per day using pickup trucks, minivans, or automobiles. In addition, HER offers compost products, though residents are encouraged to call in advance to confirm availability.
