Kawailoa Transfer Station limiting green waste collection dropoff

HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services (ENV) reminds residents the Kawailoa Transfer Station only accepts green waste Sundays, from noon to 6 p.m.

Green waste will not be accepted at the Kawailoa Transfer Station Mondays through Saturdays. On these days, residents are encouraged to deliver green waste for free directly to Hawaiian Earth Recycling (HER), the city’s contracted green waste recycler. HER is conveniently located at 65-1101 Wilikina Drive, between Waialua and Wahiawa, in the North Shore area.

HER accepts green waste during the following hours:

  • Monday-Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to noon

Residents are reminded they are limited to two (2) loads per day at HER, using pickup trucks, minivans, or automobiles. Additionally, HER offers compost products; however, residents should call in advance to ensure availability.

For a list of alternate disposal locations and more information, please visit the ENV website.
