Effluent at Kailua Regional Wastewater
Treatment Plant in compliance
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services provides the following update regarding the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP):
Test results of effluent samples taken June 21, and June 22, 2024, have shown the enterococcus bacteria count in the WWTP treated effluent is within the daily National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit limits for the Kailua Regional WWTP, and the June 20 exceedance is not continuing.
ENV’s monitoring at the shoreline stations shows the effluent enterococcus results has not impacted the shoreline.
