The Transportation Engineering Division or “TED”, is comprised of roughly 25 staff members including traffic engineers, technicians, and planners. TED conducts studies and analysis to promote the safe, efficient, and effective use and operation of the city\u2019s streets, roadways, and appurtenant facilities; coordinates and implements engineering programs and projects to improve traffic flow and safety; prepares and processes legal schedules in accordance with the traffic code; administers the City\u2019s bikeway, pedestrian and traffic safety education programs; and administers the school traffic safety committee. TED works closely with the Department of Facilities Maintenance (DFM) which maintains city roadways and the Department of Design & Construction (DDC) which manages the construction of new roadways and sidewalks.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

TSAM manages federal, state, and city funded projects pertaining to Traffic Engineering Devices at Various Locations (TEDVL), bikeways, and pedestrians facilities. TSAM also administers the City\u2019s bikeway, pedestrian and traffic safety education programs and receives, reviews and resolves queries from the public regarding the operation of bicycles on streets and facilities. TSAM is comprised of 9 staff members including the City Bicycle Coordinator, Pedestrian Coordinator, and Safe Routes to School Coordinator.<\/p>

Region 1 and 2 ensures and maintains the operation of efficient and safe City roadways by identifying proper pavement markings, parking locations and restrictions, marked crosswalks, loading zones, speed bumps, and signage. The Regions also receives, reviews and resolves queries from the public regarding the operation of vehicle traffic on streets and facilities; analyzes traffic data; conducts corner sight distance studies; and establishes and administers the traffic code ordinance requirements. In addition, the branch analyzes and determines warrants for traffic signals and left-turn signal phasing. Each region is comprised of 8 staff members including traffic engineers and technicians.<\/p>

Region 1 oversees from Makapuu, Ewa to Moanalua Valley\/Foster Village\/H\u0101lawa Valley Estates, south of the Koolau mountain range.<\/p>
