MĀNOA – Efforts to repair the pool at Mānoa Valley District Park are expected to be finished, and the pool reopened to the public, by Spring 2025
The pool was initially closed in the beginning of September 2024 due to plaster chipping and loose tiles along the pool’s underwater surfaces. The poor state of these surfaces was discovered when park staff were treating the pool for algae buildup.
Specialized maintenance workers are recruiting labor from on-site park staff to help demolish the deteriorating surfaces. That work is expected to begin later this month, then the resurfacing portion can commence, which includes resealing and repainting the entire 50-meter pool. In all, the entire project is expected to take several months to complete, with the pool scheduled to reopen in Spring 2025. If the work is completed sooner, the pool will be reopened earlier.
While repairs are underway, swimmers are encouraged to visit the pool at Pālolo Valley District Park. Pools at nearby McCully District Park and Kānewai Community Park are also available.
