WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?
A City apprenticeship is a combination of paid on-the-job training and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey-level trade professional. Programs typically take 3 to 5 years to complete, depending on the trade. After successfully finishing the apprenticeship program, graduates become skilled trade workers.

- Possession of an appropriate valid Hawai’i State driver’s license, as required. Some positions require a commercial driver’s license Class B prior to completion of the Trades Apprentice Program.
- A written test will be administered as part of the application evaluation process. You must pass the written test to move forward in the process.
