Traffic Alert: Lane Closures on Cooke and Pohukaina Streets in Kaka‘ako for Emergency Storm Drain Repairs

HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Design and Construction wishes to inform the public about upcoming lane closures along Cooke Street and Pohukaina Street for the emergency repair of a damaged storm drain line. Work is expected to start on Monday, September 16, 2024, and will last about three weeks, barring unforeseen conditions and weather events. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. 

Street parking will be temporarily prohibited near the project site on Cooke Street and Pohukaina Street during work hours. Please observe the dates and times on the “NO PARKING” signs, as vehicles parked on posted streets will be towed at the owner’s expense. Crews will set up traffic controls on Cooke Street and Pohukaina Street to ensure smooth operations and public safety during project work hours. One travel lane from each direction will remain open throughout the project site. Please observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs, and Special Duty Officers. Drivers should anticipate delays and allow extra travel time while traveling through the area.
