Traffic Advisory: City to re-start roadway improvements on Kapi‘olani Boulevard

HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu wishes to advise motorists, cyclists and pedestrians that roadway improvement work on Kapi‘olani Boulevard (between Harding Avenue and Atkinson Drive) will resume on January 27, 2025, and is anticipated to be completed in August 2025.


The scope of the remaining work includes the reconstruction of asphalt roads, installation of manhole covers and vehicle sensor loops, and pavement striping. Work is expected to take place during the day, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Morning and afternoon contraflow coning on this stretch of Kapi‘olani Boulevard will be suspended while this project is underway. Contraflow coning is expected to resume after the project is completed. Additionally, construction crews and equipment will occupy various street parking areas as the project progresses.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to expect delays and allow extra travel time while navigating through the area. Please drive safely and observe all posted signs, traffic control devices and police officers. The City and County of Honolulu appreciate everyone’s kokua as the City works to improve our public roadways.
