Traffic Advisory: City to begin Kapi‘olani Boulevard roadway improvements

HONOLULU – The public is advised that roadway improvement work along Kapi‘olani Boulevard (between Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive) will begin the week of March 5, 2024, and is expected to be completed in October 2024. Improvements include the reconstruction of asphalt roads, concrete curbs and gutters, vehicle sensor loops, pavement striping and tree pruning.
Normal construction work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Night work may occasionally occur from 7:30 p.m. – 4:00 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
Please note there will be no morning or afternoon contraflow coning on Kapi‘olani Blvd. during the construction of this project. Contraflow coning is anticipated to resume after the project is completed. Also, note that construction crews and equipment will be utilizing various street parking areas as the project progresses.

We ask that motorists and pedestrians anticipate delays and allow extra travel time while navigating through the area. Please drive safely and observe all posted signs, traffic control devices and Police Officers. The City and County of Honolulu appreciates everyone’s kōkua as the City works to improve our public roadways.
