The Rehabilitation of Streets Project’s Unit 65C is set to begin on December 9, 2024.
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction wishes to inform the public of upcoming road rehabilitation work in the Pearl City, Waialae, Mānoa, ‘Āina Haina and Kāne‘ohe areas. Construction is expected to start on Monday, December 9, 2024 and will last approximately one year. Work hours will be from Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

This project includes, but is not limited to:
- Demolition, resurfacing, and reconstruction of asphalt and Portland cement concrete pavement
- Adjustments to utility manholes
- Installation of an underdrain
- Reconstruction of existing concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters
- Installation of pavement markings and traffic signs.
Portions of the roads undergoing rehabilitation will remain temporarily closed until the new concrete pavement has cured. The project contractor will not work on the entire project area at once, and construction will be carried out in smaller phases to minimize impacts on the public and keep traffic flowing smoothly.
The Contractor, HaRon Construction Inc., will coordinate and manage local area traffic for businesses and residents, including deliveries, trash collection, residents’ access to homes, and emergency services. On-street parking will be prohibited during work hours.
In addition, “NO PARKING” signs will be placed along the sides of roadways 24 hours before work begins to notify the public of upcoming construction work areas. Residents in the project areas will be notified one week prior to the actual start date of work. Drivers are asked to observe the dates and times of these notices, as vehicles parked on posted streets will be towed at the owner’s expense. The public should anticipate detours lane and road closure delays, and allow extra travel time while navigating the area. It is important to observe all traffic controls, posted signs, and Special Duty Police Officers.
Every effort will be made to complete this essential work as quickly as possible and with as little inconvenience to the community as possible. We appreciate the public’s assistance and cooperation during this project and thank them for their patience and support while we work to improve roads in our community. Questions and comments may be directed to the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Design and Construction, at (808) 768-8400.
