HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction would like to inform the public that rock slide mitigation work will soon begin along the lower portion of Pacific Heights Road in Pacific Heights. Work will include vegetation clearing, rock scaling and removal, anchor installations, and applying “shotcrete,” which is concrete sprayed onto the hillside. This project will enhance public safety by minimizing the risk of rock slides, reducing the potential for property damage, and preventing disruptions to traffic.

Work is expected to start on Monday, September 16, 2024 and will last approximately four months, weather permitting. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. A single lane contraflow may be implemented on Pacific Heights Road between Kaola Way and 2424 Pacific Heights Road during construction.
