This project is a part of the City’s larger initiative to improve lighting along the He‘eia Stream Bridge. Read More

Hans :'Orange Neighborhood ParkWAIPAHŪ – A new parking lot at Hans L’Orange Neighborhood Park is nearing completion. When finished, the project will increase parking capacity from 47 stalls to 122 stalls, which was made possible with the removal of the old basketball court and the conversion of an unpaved overflow parking area. The popular park will also receive several significant enhancements, including new lights for the baseball field, a new irrigation system, a complete renovation of the old bathroom, landscape improvements, and upgrades to the electrical and drainage systems. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. roadway improvement work along Kapi‘olani Boulevard (between Harding Avenue to Atkinson Drive) will begin the week of March 5, 2024, and is expected to be completed in October 2024. Improvements include the reconstruction of asphalt roads, concrete curbs and gutters, vehicle sensor loops, pavement striping and tree pruning. Read More

The next phase of these improvements requires the replacement of an existing storm drain line that currently runs across the Kailua boat ramp parking entrance and through the unpaved parking area to the existing drainage outlet. The construction of these improvements will require parking restrictions within the unpaved boat trailer parking area. The paved parking area and access to the Kailua boat ramp will remain open during this time. Read More

Sinkhole Intersection ReopenedHONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction announced Friday that the roadway at the intersection of Halekauwila St. and Cooke St. in Kakaʻako, which had been closed to all motor vehicle traffic since October 2022, was officially reopened on Thursday amidst ongoing repairs to box culvert storm drains in the area. Location Map for project on Maunalani HeightsHONOLULU — Road Builders Corporation has been contracted by the City and County of Honolulu to perform road repaving as part of the Rehabilitation of Localized Streets, Phase 14D Maunalani Heights project. This project encompasses sections of Sierra Drive, all of Maunalani Circle, and a portion of Wilhelmina Rise from Waialae Ave to 13th Ave. The anticipated start date is February 21, 2023. Read More

Lanikai parking restrictionsLANIKAI — Starting February 13, 2023, and lasting approximately two weeks (weather permitting), concrete curb ramps, sidewalks, gutters and road striping repairs will be installed at the intersection of ʻAʻalapapa Drive and ʻAʻalapapa Place. Construction activities are expected Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please be advised to proceed with caution, observe all traffic control devices and no parking signs. Read More

O‘AHU – The island-wide effort to renovate parking lots at City parks across O‘ahu continues with repaving efforts scheduled for February and March.

From the Leeward Coast to the Windward Side and in town, the following parks are scheduled for the contracted repaving efforts:

  • Ulehawa Beach Park (lot near Princess Kahanu Ave., $66,478)
  • Waimānalo Beach Park (two lots, $207,892)
  • Kawainui Model Airplane Field ($175,252)
