Services for Job Seekers At American Job Center Hawaii
The services below are part of the federal “Workforce Investment Act of 1998.” In this Act, the federal government organizes these services for adults into two program categories. Here are brief descriptions:
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Adult Program
Unemployed adults (age 18+) from low-income families and employed adults who have not achieved self-sufficiency are eligible for training services, in addition to career counseling, case management, and employment and support services.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Dislocated Worker Program
People who are laid off as a result of business closure or downsizing are eligible for retraining and reemployment services. There is no income criteria for this program.
Computer Resource Center
- Free computer and Internet access
- Search online and apply directly for hundreds of jobs at https://www.hirenethawaii.com
- Create or update your resume
- File an unemployment insurance claim
General and Individualized Career Service
- Assistance with job searching and resume building
- Labor market information
- Referrals to community resources for support services, such as financial assistance, medical benefits, childcare, therapeutic counseling, and credit counseling
- Intensive case management, which includes skills assessments, career planning, and one-on-one job counseling
- Work-based training opportunities and financial assistance for employment-related skills training for in-demand occupations to eligible participants
- Learn and ear through preapprenticeship/apprenticeship programs

You are receiving or eligible for unemployment insurance benefits,
or
You meet income eligibility guidelines based on your family’s income for the past year.
Resources include all of the above American Job Center Hawaii resources plus:
- Guidance to services available from our partner programs and
- Tuition assistance to attend programs/schools participating in our Eligible Training Providers (ETP) program (also known as Kumu A’o) for high-demand occupations
