2023 commemorates the 55th anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, the landmark civil rights law signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11, 1968, which made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful. This year’s theme is “Fair Housing: Choices for All Voices: Building an Equitable Future…”

This training session featured: an overview and highlights of Presidential Executive Orders relating to racism and housing discrimination, criminal records, language, and harassment. This session also featured a panel discussion on the topic of “Advancing Housing Equity for Native Hawaiians and Underserved Communities”. Panelists included speakers from: Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi, Department of Hawaiian Homelands, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, and City and County of Honolulu, Department of Community Services.
