What people are saying about our Hiring Events
"I actually was involved with WorkHawaiʻi as a client, and I loved it because I had access to the tools I needed, such as the computer and the networking that it offered, and it was great… They help you do your résumés, they give you advice and direction on how to go through the process, how to apply for jobs, even some training, too. Because I have the experience and I went through the program, I can also let our applicants know, 'Go through WorkHawaiʻi, it’s a great benefit' and now I’m working for Hawaiʻi Public Housing Authority."
Hawaiʻi Public Housing Authority, EmployerAttended 4/16/24 Hiring Event
"The jobs I’m looking for are mostly blue-collar. I worked at a farm for an internship, so I’m very good at physical work. It’s very helpful that the employers are here. There’s a lot of jobs that I could be good at."
Kamoe, Job SeekerAttended 4/16/24 Hiring Event
"I’ve always really wanted to be a firefighter, it’s my dream job… my opportunity here is to see how many jobs there are for me. I’m very happy that the Honolulu Fire Department is here, and they gave me all the information I needed, and I’m really looking forward to it."
Dragon, Job SeekerAttended 4/16/24 Hiring Event
“The advantage of having a job fair is having all of the companies in one area, and the availability… I want someone who’s very nice, someone who has emotional intelligence and is willing to work with a mom. A kind flexible employer, but also someone who’s willing to help you grow in the company.”
Bumiko, Job SeekerAttended 2/29/24 Hiring Event
“I’ve been to approximately six Hiring Events. They typically go well and we have awesome results. Every job fair we have, some veteran ends up getting the dream job that they want. Not just a regular ‘throw them somewhere’ job, but actually the job that they want to do, so it’s very rewarding to see that.”
Charles, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program SpecialistAttended 2/29/24 Hiring Event
"It’s really convenient to have all these companies that are looking to hire. I think the biggest thing is getting to talk to people in person. Dropping your résumé into the void of LinkedIn or Indeed, I lose confidence in if people are even looking at it. Also with AI, sometimes companies are just scouring résumés, so with Hiring Events I have more confidence that I can make a good impression, and people can get to know me.”
Javon, Job SeekerAttended 2/29/24 Hiring Event
“It’s very different from sitting at home for hours on end applying for LinkedIn positions or Indeed positions, it was nice to actually put faces to Human Resource Officers. It was a very good and humane experience. It was a great day!”
Shelbei, Job SeekerAttended 11/4/23 Hiring Event
“My on the spot interview was kind of nerve wracking, but it was good in a way. I was actually more excited than nervous."
Lisa, Veteran, Job SeekerAttended 9/12/23 Hiring Event
“The workers are very nice and welcoming - everywhere you turn, there’s someone always trying to help find where you want to go.”
Shereen, Job SeekerAttended 9/12/23 Hiring Event
“We’ve been here since the first one. We’ve had candidates come through that interviewed with us and actually started with us. It’s all about just finding the right candidate. This event today has seemed the most promising so far.”
Gyotaku Restaurant, EmployerAttended 9/12/23 Hiring Event
"It's been great seeing a lot of the local companies come out and supporting us, giving us the opportunity to venture into our next career phase... I hope there are more events like this, and the word gets out to more veterans."
Denise, Veteran, Job SeekerAttended 7/25/23 Hiring Event
"This was the first job fair I ever attended. This was the best 20 minutes I ever invested in myself, landing me an awesome position in an awesome company."
Jennalyn, hired by Hawthorne CATAttended 1/10/23 Hiring Event
"The event was awesome. I heard back from the Cole Academy, and in two days they called me back for an interview. It went really well, and they're calling me back in tomorrow to observe me with the kids."
