license plates, the vehicle must be recognized as a qualifying electric vehicle on one of the following United States Government websites:<\/p><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/credits-deductions\/manufacturers-and-models-for-new-qualified-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2022-and-before\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Model Year 2022 and earlier vehicles<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fueleconomy.gov\/feg\/tax2023.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Model Year 2023 vehicles<\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>In addition to the usual registration fees and taxes, electric vehicles are also assessed an additional $50 annual surcharge per <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitol.hawaii.gov\/hrscurrent\/Vol04_Ch0201-0257\/HRS0249\/HRS_0249-0031.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hawaii Revised Statutes \u00a7249-31<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section
