Written test hours are administered from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
Effective Feb. 7, 2022, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) is required to obtain a Hawaii Commercial Driver’s License.<\/p>
FMCSA ELDT regulations set the baseline for training requirements for entry-level drivers. ELDT must be completed with a training provider registered with FMCSA. ELDT requirements apply to an applicant to:<\/p>
Exceptions:<\/strong><\/p> The ELDT regulations are not retroactive; the entry-level driver training requirements do not apply to individuals holding a valid CDL or an S, P, or H endorsement issued prior to Feb. 7, 2022.<\/p> If an applicant who obtains a CLP prior to Feb. 7, 2022, obtains a CDL before the CLP or renewed CLP expires, the applicant is not subject to the ELDT requirements.<\/p> Any individual who meets one of the exceptions for taking a skills test in 49 CFR Part 383 is For the complete and latest up-to-date information on ELDT, visit the FMCSA website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p> For further information on ELDT, visit the Hawaii Department of Transportation website<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Click here<\/strong><\/a> for the list of offenses that can disqualify a person from holding a CDL and the disqualification periods from the Hawaii Department of Transportation.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t You will need to make an appointment to be tested with a representative vehicle class and pass the following:<\/p> NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0Should you fail any required test, there is a minimum one week waiting period to be eligible for a retest. Appropriate fees apply.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Appointments for skills testing must be done in person only. Appointments can be made 14 days after permit has been issued and paid for at the CDL OFFICE prior to test date. The $50 fee is\u00a0not refundable<\/strong>. This skills fee covers the pre-trip inspection, basic skills, and road test for the scheduled date.\u00a0FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0No rescheduling will be allowed once the appointment has been made and payment is received.<\/strong>\u00a0Available test appointments times are 8 a. m., 10 a.m., and 1 p.m; Monday through Friday. Lost receipts will result in another $50 fee.
