Military members with a valid driver’s license from another U.S. state do not need to obtain a Hawaii driver’s license unless that license is expiring and they cannot renew it in that state.<\/p>
An expired driver’s license is not a valid license to legally drive. Download and complete the Statement of Facts Relating to Junking of Vehicle<\/a>.<\/li>
a)\u00a0 An AlohaQ appointment<\/a> is recommended for vehicle junking processing at satellite city halls. Limited stand by service is available at all locations, but same day service is not guaranteed.
b)\u00a0 Appointments are required at the JBPHH vehicle registration office.<\/a><\/li>
a)\u00a0 Vehicle must be free of debris and rubbish;
b)\u00a0 Vehicle must be parked on property owned by the applicant or legally parked on a public street or property;
c)\u00a0 Vehicle must be accessible to a tow truck; and
d)\u00a0 Vehicle must have at least two inflated tires on the same axle, either the front or the rear of the vehicle that is accessible to the tow truck.<\/li>
a)\u00a0 Abandoned more than 24 hours (parked in the same place for more than 24 hours without the vehicle being moved);
b)\u00a0 Parked illegally or in such a way that creates a traffic or safety hazard;
c)\u00a0 Expired registration, safety check and\/or no insurance;
d)\u00a0 Used in a crime (eg ., DUI);
e)\u00a0 Not operational after an accident ; or
f)\u00a0 Stolen, stripped down and discarded.<\/li>
a)\u00a0 If you received a Notification of Unclaimed Vehicle in Custody letter, call the phone number on the letter to locate and claim your POV.
b)\u00a0 Pay the towing and storage charges to claim your POV.
c)\u00a0 If you are deployed or temporarily reassigned off the island, have your representative under a power of attorney call the phone number on the Notification of Unclaimed Vehicle in Custody letter to locate and claim your POV.
d)\u00a0 Make sure that your representative brings a copy of the power of attorney, identification confirming that he\/she is the designated representative in the power of attorney, and sufficient
funds to pay the towing and storage charges to claim your POV.
e)\u00a0 Contact Motor Vehicle Control at (808) 768-2530 or by email at mvc@honolulu.gov<\/a> if you have any questions or encounter a problem claiming your vehicle.<\/li>
a)\u00a0 Execute a Waiver of Rights and Protections Afforded under the Service members Civil Relief Act (SCRA Waiver). An SCRA Waiver form is available online<\/a>.
