Saturday hours extended for driver’s licenses, state IDs and road tests
HONOLULU – Oʻahu residents will continue to be able to get a driver’s license, state identification card and a behind-the-wheel road test on Saturdays for the next three months.
Starting April 6, these city services will remain available at least one Saturday through June 29 at each of four driver licensing centers: Kapālama, Kapolei, Koʻolau and Wahiawā.
The weekend hours have been offered at select driver licensing centers since at least November 2021. The latest extension of the service is intended to help meet demand from more than 81,000 Oʻahu residents whose driver’s licenses and state identification cards will expire this year.
“We expect the ongoing Saturday service to greatly benefit the thousands of residents who need driver licensing and state ID services,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services.
The weekend hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offered by appointment. Stand-by service will also be available, but same-day service is not guaranteed. Stand-by service is offered to offset customer cancellations and no-shows for appointments.
