Oʻahu Transit Services restores TheBus and TheHandi-Van website and real-time location services
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services announces that Oʻahu Transit Services (OTS), operator of TheBus and TheHandi-Van, has restored the www.thebus.org website and services that power real-time vehicle location for passenger information today. This announcement comes after a cyber-attack that targeted OTS on December 9th, and caused a mass disabling of online servers to both administrative and operating access related to TheBus and TheHandi-Van.
Transit information is back online. TheBus and TheHandi-Van riders can again access real-time, GPS-based locations at http://hea.thebus.org and http://eva.thebus.org, respectively.
Third-party mobile apps including Transit, Moovit, and DaBus should display real-time location information.
OTS still continues to recover from the cyber-attack. While most resources related to operations of both TheBus and TheHandi-Van were restored last week, work still remains to restore their email servers; any email sent to addresses ending in @thebus.org have not been received since the initial attack on December 9th. The Careers page on the www.thebus.org website is also not accepting applications at the moment. The Bus Pass Office at Kalihi Transit Center remains closed.
