Lane closures in downtown for the Little League World Series Parade
The route of the Little League World Series Parade
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Transportation Services (DTS), in preparation for the Little World Series Parade, will be closing lanes fronting ʻAʻala Park for the staging of the parade vehicles starting at 9:45 a.m., on Thursday, September 8th. At 11:00 a.m. DTS will start closing King Street, starting at the intersection of King Street / Dillingham Boulevard / Liliha Street. All vehicular traffic on King Street will be detoured to Iwilei Street.
The parade will start at 12 p.m. and run from run approximately one mile from North King Street at ʻAʻala Park to Honolulu Hale through Chinatown, Downtown, and the Civic Center. All cross streets along King Street will be closed progressively as the units reach the intersections, and reopen after the last parade vehicle clears the intersection.
There will be numerous marching bands, including the Royal Hawaiian Band, and units, as well as City Department vehicles participating in the parade. The route and street closures will be similar to the regular Honolulu City Lights parade.
City bus routes that run through King Street will be detoured to Hotel Street at 10 a.m. Parking will be restricted on King Street from Dillingham Boulevard/Liliha Street to Ward Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cars parked in violation on King street during this time restriction are subject to tow.
